Shrub and Ornamental Tree Care Program
Our Ornamental Tree and Shrub Care Program is designed with one thing in mind-Creating and maintaining a lasting, beautiful landscape that protects your investment and continues to improve its appearance year after year. We use 100% completely safe products and practices to ensure not only a beautiful landscape but one that is safe for your family and the environment as well. Here is an outline of what’s included, but give us a call to discuss your landscape’s needs and get a free analysis and price quote today!
Late Winter- (February)- Early season fertilization, promotes a healthy start for the season and more vibrant color during the summer
Early Spring- (March)- Dormant oil application- Dormant oil sprays are exceptionally safe to humans (the pesticide applicator as well as others). They have little if any effect on wildlife and nontarget insects in the environment (ladybugs, parasitic wasps, honey bees, etc.) Oil sprays are less toxic because of the method by which they kill target pests. Oils are not poisons. Instead, the thin film of oil covers the target insect or mite and plugs the spiracles or pores through which it breathes. The cause of death is primarily suffocation. This allows oils to integrate well with biological controls and oils quickly dissipate through evaporation, leaving little residue. These applications help to control insects that can radically damage or kill plants such as oyster shell scale, euonymus scale, pine needle scale and aphids.
Late Spring-(April-May)- IPM-Integrated Pest Management- What IPM means is that we evaluate your plants needs instead of providing blanket applications of unnecessary pesticides and fungicides. Insect activity is evaluated and treated appropriately with the appropriate control for your insect problem, minimizing environmental impact while maximizing result. Plants are also monitored for disease and are subsequently treated with the appropriate fungicide for the individual disease found. Exceptionally high risk plants may have a systemic fungicide or insecticide treatment applied to prevent recurring problems
Early Summer-(June/July)- IPM-Integrated Pest Management- What IPM means is that we evaluate your plants needs instead of providing blanket applications of unnecessary pesticides and fungicides.
Late Summer-(July/August)- Mid season fertilization & IPM-Integrated Pest Management. Fertilization this time of the year allows adequate time for absorption prior to plant dormancy, ensuring healthier stronger plants during the colder winter months
Fall-(October/November)- Dormant oil application to help eliminate and insects that may have migrated onto your plants as they slow and begin dormancy for the winter
Full program customers will receive free service calls if needed between applications. All dates are approximate and depend largely on weather conditions.
Our applications are not insurance against any plant loss – Mother Nature intervenes when she wants to – but we will do our best to keep your landscape healthy and looking beautiful. If you notice any problems between your regular applications, please let us know so that we may take action in a timely manner.
NOTE: Our program does not include treating mature trees (over 15 feet.)
