We all love spending time with our pets and families outdoors when the weather is nice. Whether its family coming in from out of town, a neighborhood barbeque, or the kids burning off some energy in the backyard, summer brings with it many joys that we in Hampton Roads look forward to all season long. But what we don’t look forward to is the leg smacking, ear buzzing, repellant slathering, smelly candle burning, and itchy bites that come from our prevalent mosquito and tick populations. We live in a beautiful area surrounded everywhere by water. Between our slow moving or stagnant lakes, rivers, canal systems, storm water retention ponds, and low lying marsh and wetlands, Hampton roads is a mosquito paradise. And every year, we suffer for it. Great outdoor fun has to be avoided or cut short to end before dusk when the mosquitos most often feed. But not any more. Experts predict that due to the extremely mild winter we had here last year, that this year will be the worst season for mosquitos and other bugs in decades. Don’t let your loved ones be on the menu, we can kill up to 99% of the mosquitos already on your property waiting for their next meal and prevent new ones from coming for dinner.

How does it work?

Our licensed, trained technicians will come to your home and using a misting blower( a backpack style unit that distributes a fine mist in the areas desired) will apply a barrier application to your shrubbery, fences, trees as well as occasionally your lawn or base of the house. This application dries in about an hour, and afterward is safe for pets, children and adults. The application kills mosquitos, ticks and many other troublesome insects on contact and leaves an trace residue. Mosquitos and ticks hide on leaves and grass during the day and come out to feed at night. This residue continues to kill new mosquitos that come into contact with it for several weeks after application and helps to prevent and discourage new mosquitos from coming to your lawn. Applications are re-applied every 21 days to provide you with safe, extremely effective protection against mosquitos, ticks and other dangerous pests.

What products do you use? Are they safe for my family and pets?

Our products are safe for pets as well as children. We use a type of product known as pyrethroids. Pyrethroids are a synthetic form of a chemical called pyrethrin which is a natural compound found in the chrysanthemum flower. Chrysanthemums use these pyrethins as a defense mechanism against insects and people have used these flowers for centuries to help protect gardens against pests. A common flea and tick control product for dogs (k9 advantix) has pyrethroids (permethrin) as its main active ingredient and it is designed to be applied directly to your dogs skin. During the misting process, we ask that you keep all children and pets inside and for an hour after completion.

We also have cedar oil and garlic oil repellants as well. They do not kill mosquitos and ticks but do have a repellent nature that can prevent up to 50-60% of the pests from entering or staying in your yard.

Listen to what some of our satisfied clients have to say:

“You should have this done for your yard, it works!”- Ms. Gray (dog owner)

“Our backyard is a jungle of flowers and shrubs. Your treatments have allowed us to sit out in back and enjoy the flowers and hummingbirds. Thank you”- Mr. Reardon

“It really works, we can sit on our back deck this summer for once.”- Mr. Bazemore (dog owner)

Mosquito Facts:
Mosquitoes cause more human suffering than any other organism -- over one million people worldwide die from mosquito-borne diseases every year. Not only can mosquitoes carry diseases that afflict humans, they also transmit several diseases and parasites that dogs and horses are very susceptible to. These include dog heartworm, West Nile virus (WNV) and Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE). In addition, mosquito bites can cause severe skin irritation through an allergic reaction to the mosquito's saliva - this is what causes the red bump and itching. Mosquito vectored diseases include protozoan diseases, i.e., malaria, filarial diseases such as dog heartworm, and viruses such as dengue, encephalitis and yellow fever.
